ART CIRCLE International is dedicated to professional artists and curators. Artists for specific events are selected multiple times a year by an international jury based on an open call. Artworks created during the residency period become part of the ART CIRCLE collection. These works are exhibited to the public in Slovenia after the residency and in subsequent exhibitions abroad. In this way, ART CIRCLE contributes to the dissemination of contemporary art to various, including rural, regions.
A unique feature of the Slovenian festival is the Cultural Embassy of a particular country. Each location hosting artists is dedicated to the country with a diplomatic embassy in Slovenia, and the artists hosted primarily come from that country. Official diplomatic embassies support their cultural embassies. In this way, ART CIRCLE connects the cultures of numerous nations with the local region and the diplomatic world.
In addition to residencies for professional artists, the organization ART CIRCLE International also organizes a youth festival for students and graduates of art academies at the beginning of their professional careers. With our programs, international mentors and selected young artists collaborate in a new environment, gaining professional experience and networking opportunities.
The organizational team of the festival consists of experienced professional artists, art professors, curators, entrepreneurs, tourist providers, and expert external collaborators.
